Ocean Graffiti

Plastic is the most common foreign element found in the ocean. It is harmful for the environment as it does not get broken down easily and is often considered as food by marine animals. Even though much of the trash and waste dumped into the ocean is released hundreds of miles away from land, it still washes up on beaches and coastal areas, and affects everything in between. Overall, plastic is the number one source of pollution in the ocean.  Millions of sea animals are discovered with levels of plastic in them, in many cases resulting in the death of that animal. Now there is even research that is saying some people actually have plastic within them. For this project I wanted to make people aware of what plastic does to our earth, not just with posters, brochures, ads, leaflets, and billboards but with a new twist and graffiti places that people walk by daily. I live in a beach community on the Gulf of Mexico and I wanted to put out information through my town that would enlighten people on the devastating effects of Plastics to our community and world.
